What is an indicator course?
An “indicator course” is a course that has been identified, through the analysis of past student grades, as a key marker of whether a learner will successfully graduate from the program. Many Information Communications Technology (ICT) programs have identified indicator courses – often in Level 01, but sometimes in upper levels as well.
Failing an indicator course may suggest that a particular program is not a good fit for you. Failing an indicator course can result in a variety of steps/actions, from the issuing of a Learning Contract to a program withdrawal as initiated by the College.
You can locate information on indicator courses in the official course outline for your course (check Brightspace), likely under the "Program Information" section. Your Student Success Specialist is also working to add that information to this FAQ, so please watch this space in the coming weeks!
