Does the College offer tutoring?
Yes! Academic supports at Algonquin College are offered through the Student Learning Centre (or SLC, for short).
Peer Tutoring
For one-on-one support tailored to specific courses, you can access Peer Tutoring (available both in-person and virtually). Peer tutors are upper-level students with a high GPA who can assist you in understanding course material, including assignments, at a small fee ($8 per hour).
To access Peer Tutoring, log in to the Peer Tutoring Booking System with your AC student email to search for tutors and book an appointment.
If there is no tutor available for your program, please fill out the Tutor Request Form and they will look for one.
Please note that financial assistance may be available. If finances are preventing you from accessing tutoring services, please reach out to the SLC Kiosk at slc@algonquincollege.com to learn more about the financial support options available at the College.
CST8116 - Introduction to Computer Programming
Looking for some extra help with CST8116: Introduction to Computer Programming? The SLC provides virtual group tutoring sessions, led by peer tutors. Even better…these sessions are free!
Registration opens 12 hours in advance of a session, so monitor the calendar on the Peer Tutoring site, and be sure to sign up promptly as spots do fill up quickly.
(Having trouble finding where to sign up? Click on the CST8116 tab, in the “Booking a Tutor” box.)
Coaching
For generalized help with Study Skills, Math, Writing, Computers, and more, the SLC offers academic coaching at no cost. Sessions are available by appointment or by drop-in, one-on-one, online and in-person.
To book a coaching appointment or check the calendar for drop-ins, please visit their website.
Workshops
The SLC offers a wide variety of workshops, many of which are available virtually. Topics range from study skills, procrastination, and test-taking to math basics and citation skills.
