Credit for past experience: How to apply for Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)
Last Updated: Jul 18, 2023 Views: 104

Do you feel that you have life experience that should count towards a class in your program? Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)  is a process that assesses your non-academic life experience towards potential course credit. This may include employment, community work, independent study, on-the-job training, volunteering, or travel.

If a course covers material that you already know, you can request an assessment to challenge the course. If you are successful, you receive a credit for the class.
