General Education Electives: What they are and how you register

General Education courses are courses that cover topics outside of your chosen program. They are designed to give you a broad education that will help you be adaptable in a changing workplace. Many programs at Algonquin College include some mandatory General Education courses, as well as one or two electives.

Information about General Education Electives:

  • See if your program includes General Education: Check your program website to see if your program includes General Education electives.
  • See the courses you can choose from: Visit the General Education Electives website for the list of General Education courses. Your program website will have information about which of these courses you can take in your program. 
  • Get more information: Talk to your General Education School Representative for more information about your General Education Electives.
  • Register for your elective: You will usually register for your elective course through ACSIS. For more information about the process, visit the page on How to Register.
